A Racine County man is in trouble with the local police.
They say he made a fake call to 911 to try and get a deputy called away from giving him a ticket.
Christopher Jones was pulled over and instead of pulling out his license and registration, Jones pulled out his cell phone to call in a fake crash .
911 racine county sheriff. What’s your emergency?” “There’s a lady laying in a ditch holding her head.”
That was christopher jones calling in what appeared to be a serious car crash.
“Did you stop? No i kept going there was a car behind me.”
“When a call goes out we think the worst right away and respond accordingly.”
Jack Bierman is Rochester’s assistant fire chief. He and 14 EMT’s rushed to the scene, but nothing was there.
“We thought maybe the caller got his directions wrong.”
But police say that Jones made it all up. The 31-year old had been pulled over for speeding. Investigators think he called 911 hoping it would distract the deputy.
“I was a little angry that 14 of my members were needlessly put in harms way.”
And that’s not all . Jones was also carrying a fake sheriffs department ID card and badge.
So the man who police say lied to get out of a speeding ticket – ended up with that ticket plus five other charges.
Bierman is just thankful nobody was hurt. “‘i’m glad a real emergency didn’t come in. That would’ve delayed our response.”
