The term “Take it to the Track†is being bellowed by numerous law enforcement agencies in America. Take it to the Track is a term that relates to the dangerous and high stakes lifestyle of street racing. Law enforcement agencies are encouraging illegal street racers to take their cars to the racing track or proper race facility. If you type the term street racing into a search engine you will be given thousands of videos and see headlines related to innocent bystanders being killed or injured severely. The videos show racers reaching speeds in the low 100’s on highways, roadways and neighborhoods. They also highlight the deadly results that can be affiliated with street racing.

Illegal street racing has claimed the lives of far too many innocent individuals and naïve drivers. The California Highway patrol issued 697 tickets for street racing in 2006. These tickets did not include surface streets where a high percentage of the street racing occurs. Ontario California law enforcement attempted to deter street racing by confiscating and crushing cars that were caught. States such as Florida have created legislation for street racing but convictions are difficult based on the prosecution having to prove there was a competition.
The factor that is most difficult to grasp is the mind set of the driver that is willing to risk his life and the life of others for money or the thrill. Street races can generate high stake gambling and those that participate are not just young drivers. Orange County Florida states they receive more than twenty five calls every Saturday night reporting street racing.
Speeding is the most common law violated in America, and speeding tickets continue to generate outstanding levels of revenue for municipalities. However, this behavior must cease and stiffer laws with programs such as Take it to the Track must be put in place to deter these drivers.
