Updates News & Information About Driving Laws

Morning after DUI

July 22nd, 2009 by tvblog

Recently, I was given the privilege of asking a Nevada State Patrolman about Driving While Intoxicated. I wanted an answer to a simple question, is it common for you to arrest the responsible driver who took a taxi home and returned to pick up their automobile the next morning. His answer was shocking, he stated, “It is a common occurrence for individuals to be arrested for DUI’s and DWI’s the morning after a night of drinking.”
The average body has the ability to process 1 unit of alcohol in one hour. A unit of alcohol is considered a half of pint of beer or one 25 milliliter shot or 66 percent of a 125 milliliter glass of wine. The rate the body can process alcohol can be increased and decreased by the size of the individual and the amount of food they may eaten during the night.
If an individual goes to happy hour after work and drinks two pints (4 units of alcohol), then proceeds to dinner and has two glasses of wine(2 units of alcohol) and ends the night on the town with two mixed drinks (2 units of alcohol) they may need far more recovery time to drive then predicted. The eight units of alcohol should be given ten to twelve hours to clear your system before you drive. If an individual had 10 pints of beer during an evening they would need to stay clear of the wheel for nineteen to twenty hours.
If you are going to have a night on the town prepare yourself for a day of recovery.
