Updates News & Information About Driving Laws

I just had a few beers?

May 1st, 2009 by tvblog

The season for graduation parties, bbq, and vacations is approaching rapidly. As we embark upon summer we must give ourselves a friendly reminder not to drink and drive. Drivers that are arrested for drinking and driving often state that they did not feel drunk. We all must remember that feeling intoxicated and having blood alcohol content above the legal limit are very different.
Florida DUI Laws
Alcohol has a profound effect on a driver’s ability to make decisions. A driver with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.10 or greater is seven times more likely to be involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash than is a driver who has not consumed alcoholic beverages, and a driver with an alcohol concentration of 0.15 or greater is about 25 times more likely.
Many individuals ask the question how much alcohol can I consume and still be safe. An individual that has a weight of 160 pounds could drink two beers within an hour and have a BAC of around 0.04, this is below the legal limits of driving under the influence, however this individual is still 1.4 times more likely to have an accident than someone who is sober. The consumption of 4 beers increase your chances of an accident by 10 times and the consumption of the six pack would place the 160 pound individual over the legal limit furthermore they would be 48 times more likely than a sober driver to be in an accident.
Please enjoy summer, designate a driver and give a few word of caution to your friends and family.
